My first day….

Monday, January 21st, 2013

Today I went to the office.

For the first time in more years than I’m going to tell you!

I took my new briefcase and wore a business suit and became an accountant again.

And I loved it!

My colleagues are nice, the office is relaxed and friendly. They gave me flowers. There are free Mars bars by the coffee machine and the coffee is Nespresso, my favourite. I got to have a nice lunch with grown-ups!

Despite the fact that I spent the day learning about the computer system and dealing with taxes and VAT, the hours flew by and I came home from work on a high.

And the house hadn’t fallen down in my  absence.

I think I’ll go back tomorrow. The dog is coming in tomorrow and I’d hate to miss him.

I have the feeling I’m going to enjoy this and it’s going to do me good. It’s also made me – even after a day – noticeably more efficient with my time. Which is a good thing, right?

Helen

Helen, so glad that the first day at work went well. Yes, of course, you have to go back tomorrow for the coffee, mars bars and the Scottie – not necessarily in that order. Flowers too – what a nice touch to welcome a new employee

You have to go back for the dog, if nothing else!!! I’m so pleased you have found a place where you are comfortable.

I have a couple of suits gathering dust in the wardrobe if you need them.

So glad you had fun. Mars bars and Nespresso sounds good too. I know what you mean about being more efficient – when on holiday just getting up dressed and breakfasted can take til half 9 whereas on work days I’m out by eight. Only problem for me is being too tired to sew in the evenings, especially by the end of the week.

  19. Leanne Says:

I can just see you, it sounds like you are right back at it. I am so glad you are having fun.
