Today is a lovely day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s tipping it down outside, and it’s me that’s having the lovely time.
It started out with a 15km slow run in the woods, up and down the hills, with friends. It rained steadily most of the way, but wasn’t cold and every so often it would stop and the sun would break through. I know a lot of you probably think I’m quite bonkers, but honestly, it was such a nice way to spend a rainy morning. I consciously ran slowly, slower than I naturally would, to keep my pulse low and hopefully avoid a headache afterwards (I can report: so far, so good!).
This afternoon I’ve been making some progress on the Nature’s Notebook quilting. The 820 started off being a bit temperamental. I’ve no idea why, but it seems to have calmed down again and my headband shapes are slowly progressing. It’s taking eons longer than stippling would have, but the quilting is much denser.
If I was doing this again, I wouldn’t use such a deep blue quilting thread. It looks fantastic on the blue areas, but on the yellow you see every wobble….and believe me, there are a few! Once it’s been washed and dried and poofs up a bit I don’t think it will be so noticeable. Thank goodness I’m not a perfectionist!
Yesterday I was clearing up some fabric piles and discovered that I have already mad the binding for this quilt – and had totally forgotten about it. I’d actually been pondering what colour to use and contemplating a trip to Zürich for some fabric or bias binding tape – so that came as a nice surprise. I really do wonder about my memory sometimes though….
We’re going to finish off today with a trip to see the new Harry Potter movie. One daughter has already seen it and pronounced it brilliant, so I can’t wait….
All in all, a great way to spend a rainy Sunday…total self indulgence!!! It does a body good sometimes!!
